ACUMEN was originally developed in association with The Midwest Credit Union and The Northumbria Police Credit Union. A second version was designed aimed more specifically at the Community Credit Union market and has since then been successfully deployed in several offices throughout the UK.

As the result of a major merge of Police Credit Unions in 2003, MTCS was tasked with providing permanent, secure multi-user, high speed broadband access to ACUMEN operators based both at home and in offices up and down the country. Not only was the target met, but the scope of the product has subsequently grown to include diaries, a bulletin board, document storage and retrieval, direct BACS functionality and many other useful attributes. FSA compliant reporting is available at branch and combined levels providing management with detailed information at the touch of a button.

A new Web Server add-in has recently been launched providing members with secure real-time access to view their accounts, download statements, calculate loans and print the relevant paperwork directly.

Throughout its planning and execution, ACUMEN has been carefully designed to provide an intuitive, simple and concise User Interface. Data entry is fully validated and complex tasks are dealt with by this single-entry system with minimal operator intervention.

Scaleability

Acumen will grow with your Credit Union. You may choose to start with the program on a single computer. However, in time it may (and we hope that it will) become necessary for several people to access the system simultaneously. ACUMEN can be easily upgraded to meet this requirement when the time comes.

Security

ACUMEN has security built in. User login names and passwords dictate which features should be available and, more importantly, what data should be editable - or even visible to that operator.

Adaptability

From the start, adaptability has been one of ACUMEN's main watchwords. The result is a system that can be easily adjusted to suit the inevitably changing needs of your Credit Union.

Membership Grouping

Membership can be placed into groups and member types that dictate the income frequency. Functionality of the Single version is identical to its Multi-Branch version enabling you to deal with several Credit Unions on a single system should the need arise. Each member can potentially have multiple Share and Loan Accounts, and Accounts can be conveniently "associated" to aid family traceability where required. All transaction types can be processed manually, and several automated features are available for larger industrial organisations.

Income/Expenditure

ACUMEN incorporates a straightforward, double entry accounting suite that enables you to record your income and expenditure transactions in a formal "nominal accounting" environment. All transactions completed on members' accounts are automatically entered into this module and bank accounts are maintained simultaneously.

Reporting

A wide range of reports are available giving full information on all aspects of your Credit Union's activity including one off statements, audit trails, accumulated interest, periodic transactions and account summaries. A "Month End Reporting Group" provides key management information from a single mouse-click, and a look-alike Quarterly Return is provided populated with all available information when required.
